Ding Dong, the Ditch is Dead...

I went looking for surf today at the ditch, but found this instead. Apparently, the powers that be decided that too many people were out having fun surfing in Central Oregon, and put in some rebar to ruin our beloved ditch wave.
The ditch, before:
..and after...

While there, I ran into Eli Mack, from Eugene, who is one of the progenitors of river surfing (http://www.eugeneweekly.com/2004/07/22/coverstory.html)

and we discussed the sad news of the ditch's demise.

We also talked about some of the big-river waves Eli has surfed, like the Overland Truck Eater, in Africa (Eli in the pit, below)
A hunt for another wave ensued, and although I can't mention where, another wave was surfed nearby...Looks like ditch season in still ON!
Eli, on yet another ditch wave...
